Psychologist in Girona
Cati Mayans | Psychologist in Girona
I am Cati Mayans Tur (Col. COPC), a General Health Psychologist, licensed in Psychology by the University of Girona, with more than 19 years of clinical experience in supporting individuals, couples, children, and adolescents. My career combines clinical practice in the private sector with extensive experience in public services, educational centers, and specialized resources in trauma, gender-based violence, and emotional health.
Throughout the years, I have had the privilege of accompanying hundreds of people during some of the most important and difficult moments of their lives. I understand psychotherapy as a safe space where each person can feel heard without judgment, understand what is happening to them, and build new tools to regain emotional balance and live with greater serenity.
Every story is unique. That is why I do not work from universal formulas or a single therapeutic approach. My understanding of psychology integrates different models — systemic, cognitive-behavioral, psychoanalytic, constructivist, and humanistic — which I adapt to the needs, goals, and pace of each person. This approach allows me to offer a personalized, rigorous, and evidence-based intervention, without ever losing the human dimension that I consider essential in any therapeutic process.
During my professional career, I have worked in healthcare centers, specialized services for gender-based violence, educational resources of the Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya), therapeutic associations, and private practice. This experience has given me a comprehensive view of psychological suffering and the different stages of the life cycle, allowing me to understand each person from all the dimensions that make up their history.
A very important part of my career has been dedicated to supporting women victims of gender-based violence and people who have experienced highly traumatic events. This work has taught me about the resilience people possess when they have access to a safe, respectful, and professional space from which to rebuild trust in themselves and others.
I have also specialized a significant part of my clinical practice in couples therapy and sexology, helping individuals and couples understand the emotional, sexual, and relational difficulties that can arise throughout life. I believe that healthy relationships do not depend on perfection, but on the ability to communicate, understand each other, and build more conscious bonds.
I like to see psychology not only as a tool to reduce suffering, but also as an opportunity for personal growth. Many people come to consultation without knowing exactly what is happening to them; they simply feel that something inside needs to change. Being able to accompany this process of self-discovery is, probably, one of the most rewarding parts of my profession.

- Processes of Change and Life Cycle: Psychological support during stages of transformation such as motherhood, fatherhood, menopause, hormonal changes, separations, grief, or moments of personal and professional reorientation.
- Interpersonal Relationships and Social Skills: Improvement of assertive communication, non-violent communication, setting healthy boundaries, conflict resolution, and developing more satisfying relationships.
- Career Guidance and Professional Change: Thanks to my experience in career guidance and professional integration, I also support people facing job changes, professional decision-making, or blockages in their career path.
Therapeutic Approach
- Integrative and Personalized Therapy: Every therapeutic process is different. I integrate resources from various psychological approaches to tailor the intervention to the specific needs of each person.
- Trust-Based Therapeutic Relationship: I believe that the bond between psychologist and patient is one of the main factors of change. That is why I prioritize creating a space of safety, respect, closeness, and non-judgment.
- Evidence-Based and Person-Centered Psychology: I combine scientific rigor with a deeply human perspective, understanding that behind every difficulty there is a personal story that deserves to be heard with sensitivity.
