Child, Adolescent and Family Psychology in Girona
Imma Tremoleda | Child, Adolescent and Family Psychology in Girona
I am Imma Tremoleda, a general health psychologist, and I accompany children, adolescents and families who are going through emotional, behavioural or relational difficulties. I offer individualised, close and professional psychological care, based on listening, respect and psychological rigour, with the aim of promoting emotional wellbeing and finding useful resources for everyday life.
I understand each child and young person from their own history, their needs and the bonds that form part of their life. For this reason, my way of working is integrative, relational and systemic, taking into account both the emotional world of each person and their family, social and educational environment.
My professional background combines clinical experience with work in educational and socio-educational settings. I have worked especially with adolescents in vulnerable situations and with mental health difficulties, emotional dysregulation and adaptation problems, both in educational and residential contexts as well as in socio-educational support. This experience has allowed me to get to know complex realities and to understand the importance of individualised intervention, coordinated with the environment and adjusted to the needs of each young person.
I offer a therapeutic space of trust, listening and respect, where children and adolescents can express themselves and develop resources to face their difficulties. I also work with families so that they can better understand what is happening to their children and find strategies to support them.
Areas of Intervention
Child Psychology (3-12 years)
Psychological intervention with children is adapted to the age and developmental stage of each boy or girl. Emotional, behavioural and relational difficulties are addressed, promoting emotional expression and the development of personal resources.
• Anxiety, fears and worries.
• Difficulties in emotional and behavioural regulation.
• Self-esteem, insecurity and social skills.
• Relational and adaptation difficulties.
• Grief, losses and family changes.
• Traumatic experiences and situations of emotional vulnerability.

Adolescent Psychology (13-18 years)
Adolescence is a stage of personal, emotional and relational changes. Psychological support offers a space of trust to understand distress, strengthen self-knowledge and develop strategies to face difficulties.
• Anxiety, stress and academic or personal worries.
• Sadness and emotional distress.
• Self-esteem, identity and personal development.
• Difficulties in family, social or school relationships.
• Emotional dysregulation and behavioural difficulties.
• Grief, losses and difficult life experiences.
• Traumatic experiences and situations of emotional vulnerability.
• Adaptation difficulties and problems related to attention, learning and neurodevelopment.
Family Guidance and Support
The family plays an important role in the emotional wellbeing of children and adolescents. Family guidance makes it possible to better understand the difficulties and find new ways of accompanying children.
• Understanding of emotional and behavioural needs.
• Strategies for dealing with conflicts and difficulties in living together.
• Improvement of communication and family relationships.
• Support in situations of change or crisis.
• Coordination with educational and health professionals when appropriate.
Therapeutic Approach
The therapeutic process is adapted to the age, needs and circumstances of each person. From an integrative perspective, I combine different resources according to the characteristics of each case:
• Cognitive-behavioural tools: to work on the relationship between thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
• Emotional regulation strategies: to promote the identification and management of emotions and the development of coping resources.
• Mindfulness, breathing and relaxation: to work on emotional awareness, attention to the present moment and the management of activation.
• Expressive and symbolic resources: such as play, drawing, stories, writing and sandplay (sand tray therapy), which facilitate the expression and processing of emotional experiences.
• Relational and systemic perspective: to understand difficulties taking into account family bonds and the contexts in which each person develops.
The intervention seeks to promote emotional wellbeing, autonomy and the development of personal and family resources.
